Yum. This flavor really turned out to be a pleasant surprise. At first, it seemed like an ordinary chocolate flavor with mini-marshmallows, but with each bite, it tasted more and more like a real hot chocolate (strange as that may sound). I didn’t realize until I finished that I’d completely ignored the appearance and icing design, which I guess must’ve been some sort of milk-chocolate brown… On top of that, I’ve been able to completely ignore my daily hot cocoa cravings until now – 2 days later! Now that’s what I call a flavor with staying power.

Pirates aren't Danish, but we'll eat Danish Pop Tarts!
My, how a good Strawberry Cheese Danish Pop Tart can make the best sort of booty there is and fight off scurvy as well! At least this particular kind can, with it's fruity filling. Calcium is also tackled in the mix with a creamy counterpart, and this is obvoulsy something with which all of us pirates are often concerned. The cheese taste didn't some through as much as I had expected, but the subtlety was the nice twist.
The delightful waves of frosting reminded me of that time that I sailed upon a strawberry sea! Why did I leave? Strawberry sharks! But I digress. Said frosting didn't hold up too well in the toaster, but they looked lovely upon initial unwrapping. I could have made it into an edible necklace and presented it to the queen herself as booty from the islands!
I say this flavor is a winner, and if you don't you can walk the plank! Arrgh!

Strawberry Cheese Danish: not cheesy, but still a winner.
For the inaugural sailin' in the sea o' pop-tart fla'ors, me crew and I set our sights high on tastin' Strawberry Cheese Danish. This was a fla'or so new that e'en the official website has not had a chance t' list it yet. I was excited!
In preparation for this first tasting, I took a swig from my flask to clear my palate; Today’s drink of choice was Vitasoy Light Chocolate. Although it, in fact, left a light coatin' o' chocolaty goodness in my mouth, it neither quenched my thirst nor did anythin' for my palate. Alas, that is o' no concern…
My first careful bite into the hot ‘n toasty pop-tart corner brought back quick memories o’ my last pop-tart experience, from probably more than a decade ago now…when I used to carelessly break off and discard the flavorless corners of every pop-tart straight out of the toaster. Today, however, I strangely enjoyed the crunchy edge that had just a hint of sweetness from the wavy white sugar icing.
Running down the center of the pastry were two stripes of icing in delicate pink that hinted at the tasty filling I would soon encounter; it did not disappoint. I don’t know whether it was because I had long forgotten the taste o’ pop-tarts or because I was surrounded by trusted comrades, but I truly found this to be a pop-tart that I would not mind having another of.
Even as it cooled, while I take a moment to write this post, the flavor did not fade and the texture stayed chewy. This is one 200-calories breakfast pastry that I cannot regret.

The History of Pop Tart Pirates
Pop Tart Pirates began as a rival group to the infamous Cereal Buddies (CerealBuddy.com). Pasted below are excerpts from our original declaration of Pirateship from those land-lovers. Arrgh!

"Offended we are that the membership to this established institution of breakfast snobbery has not been offered to us! Thusly, we would like to announce the formation of a new, rival breakfast-related club:
"POP TART PIRATES!
"We are now accepting applications for participation in this new breakfast group. Membership is limited to 8, as this is the number of Pop Tarts in a standard package. Cereal Buddies may not join Pop Tart Pirates, but they may challenge us to lightsaber battles, beauty pageants involving the corn hat, or question us on our abundant knowledge of Jonathan Frakes' acting career.
"Our special day of Pop Tart appreciation will be every Monday, beginning next Monday. Each week, a member will be required to purchase a box of these delightful toaster pastries, which will be divided, toasted, and savored by our pirate brothers and sisters. We too, will have a blog and even a MySpace page (ha! muahaaha!), but you can keep your precious milk and eating equipment. All we require is an electric toaster (invented 1893, Crompton and Company, Leeds, England) and our beloved hands, and perhaps our medication to suppress our overwhelming excitement, if necessary.

Strawberry Cheese Danish
Ahoy, Matey! Ye was the first adventure of our crew. Strawberry Cheese Danish, it shivered my timbers.
The icing on top was scrumptious, and the inside yummy gooey stripes of strawberry and cream cheese was amazing. This was definitely one of my favorite flavors of poptarts.
